Do you think that Councils and community members need to have a greater voice in planning and development decisions affecting their local area?
Absolutely councils through the community needs to have a greater voice in planning and development, after all it is OURS, not developers. What role should Councils play in protecting local heritage places from demolition or inappropriate development?
Councils must amalgamate to create a greater voice as the State Governments are now controlled by developers. Individually they will not win, the government must be held accountable. We collectively as the residents own the wards and must be heard via our councils. How would you seek to improve protections for heritage places in your area?
I would set up a committee that encompasses all councils to speak for us as one.We rarely see new places added to local heritage listings. Why do you think this is?
It would maintain our history which is needed, look at Europe with all the UNESCO sites. We have a lot that needs to be protected. How has the Planning and Design Code impacted on the heritage, amenity, and environment of your area? What changes would you seek to the Code?
It is destroying our area as building a re being allowed in areas where they should not, as well they are either concrete or black sheet metal, that does not fit in our area, detracted from our dress circle. What are the impacts of infill development in your area? What changes would you seek in the rules around infill development?
It needs to be stopped.Construction of new housing typically uses 30% labour and 70% materials. Renovation of existing housing stock typically uses 70% labour and 30% materials. What policy changes would you like to see made to encourage people to renovate, rather than demolish and build anew?
Make it compulsoryHow should the community be informed and involved in decisions about new developments?
Create a group that has input into developments so consideration can be put forward.Do you think there is adequate tree canopy across your local government area?
No, too many are being taken out to build larger homes on the block which use all available land. How would you like to see significant and regulated trees in your area protected from removal?
Set a standard that states significant and regulated trees must be built around. What involvement should Councils have in decisions about protecting or removing significant and regulated trees?
Set a standard that states significant and regulated trees must be built around. What actions would you advocate to slow or mitigate the impacts of climate change in your local government area?
More trees and smaller homes so the land is greater, as the homes are getting bigger and the land is shrinking. What issues are there with traffic and parking in your area?
Total uncontrolled, RAT running and taking car parking spaces to catch public transport. It is a huge issue. How could transport options be improved in your area?
Stop cars entering the heritage areas and make them use arterial roads by putting blockages in the way. What would your top three priorities be for improving planning policy and outcomes in your local government area?
Remove state government from the decision
Increase community input.
