1. Do you agree that the identification and protection of local heritage places is best done by local councils rather than DPTI (Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure)?
   In most cases definitely yes best done by Local Govt. although it is good when there is co-operative collaboration between the different levels of government. The trouble with giving all the responsibility to DPTI is who do they answer to? What input would,Local,people have in their own area? At least with local government in charge of heritage issues if the residents are not happy they can change their council by voting.

2. In your opinion, has the current system of local heritage protection served your community well?
   I think we have done a reasonably good job but I do wish now that we could have saved a few more old buildings and other heritage items.

3. Should councils reject proposals to list local places of historic merit simply because an owner objects?
   No but it should be treated sensitively and hopefully bring the “over” owner.

4. Should neighbours of local heritage listed buildings have a right of appeal on development applications that propose demolition?
   Under some circumstances but this is a tricky area as owners do have some rights. In a general sense I would prefer it if adjoining owners were told more about any www

5. Should buildings listed as Contributory Items in your council area receive better protection?
   Yes but who funds this. Unfortunately “heritage” still Cox,es down to who pays for restoration and upkeep.

6. Do you agree that places proposed for listing by your council as Local Heritage or Contributory Items should be subject to review by DPTI? Or would reviews be more appropriately conducted by an independent source of expert advice?
   Once again each case should be taken on it merits but I guess there needs to be a definition of local heritage

7. Would you like to see your council work more closely with the National Trust of SA in protecting heritage, for example, by signing up as one of the Trust's Civic Partners?
   I was under the impression we do work closely with the National Trust

8. What are your personal suggestions for improving the way your council handles policy and planning?
   Development plans are written to be very hard for lay people to understand and changes to development plans take row,e

9. Should councils actively encourage individuals to nominate places for consideration as local heritage?
   Yes
