Do you think that Councils and community members need to have a greater voice in planning and development decisions affecting their local area?
YesWhat role should Councils play in protecting local heritage places from demolition or inappropriate development?
Council needs to have more power to prevent the senseless removal of significant trees and character homesHow would you seek to improve protections for heritage places in your area?
Not too sure at this stage. This is a question i could answer better in 6 months time.We rarely see new places added to local heritage listings. Why do you think this is?
Not too sure at this stage (first question) The retention of history and character, particularly in Burnside. How has the Planning and Design Code impacted on the heritage, amenity, and environment of your area? What changes would you seek to the Code?
Not in a position to answer that question yet as I am still learningWhat are the impacts of infill development in your area? What changes would you seek in the rules around infill development?
Increased traffic and noise pollution. Minimise high density living.Construction of new housing typically uses 30% labour and 70% materials. Renovation of existing housing stock typically uses 70% labour and 30% materials. What policy changes would you like to see made to encourage people to renovate, rather than demolish and build anew?
Not 100% sure of the existing policies yet, but i'll be better prepared to address that down the trackHow should the community be informed and involved in decisions about new developments?
There needs to be far ranging community consultation, with opportunities for affected community members to have feedback and have their feedback addressed.Do you think there is adequate tree canopy across your local government area?
Yes I do, but it could be greater. How would you like to see significant and regulated trees in your area protected from removal?
I would like to see them protected from over zealous developersWhat involvement should Councils have in decisions about protecting or removing significant and regulated trees?
I think the council should have full control and see the State Government powers handed back to local councilWhat actions would you advocate to slow or mitigate the impacts of climate change in your local government area?
Humans can't control climate change, but we can control air pollution. The more that we work towards saving our tree, especially the significant one, will aid in minimising air pollution. The powers to be in South America that are allowing those beautiful rainforests to be ripped down play a significant role in the warming of our Earth. What issues are there with traffic and parking in your area?
In my area, I have no issues with traffic and have ample on and off street parking. How could transport options be improved in your area?
They are great at the moment and i see no way of improving it.What would your top three priorities be for improving planning policy and outcomes in your local government area?
Council to regain control of removal of significant trees
