ERIC OZGO
2022 candidate for Campbelltown City Council.
Heritage survey responses.
Do you think that Councils and community members need to have a greater voice in planning and development decisions affecting their local area?
Yes.What role should Councils play in protecting local heritage places from demolition or inappropriate development?
Consultation and support. How would you seek to improve protections for heritage places in your area?
Simply working within the laws put in front of me, what else can I do?We rarely see new places added to local heritage listings. Why do you think this is?
Greed plays a huge part and maybe we can look at banning developments with very simple changes to the rules. Make the minimum size block 500 square metres. Councils just see dog box developments as easy money, greed has to leave the room. How has the Planning and Design Code impacted on the heritage, amenity, and environment of your area? What changes would you seek to the Code?
Revert back to the old scheme, no one has ever found it to not work well. I would like to see just the planning regulations stand, no other developments would be permitted, if it doesn’t comply, it doesn’t even get to stage one, just throw it out. What are the impacts of infill development in your area? What changes would you seek in the rules around infill development?
Dog boxes everywhere, that will cause huge problems in the future, when major work is required on party walls and partial demolitions.Construction of new housing typically uses 30% labour and 70% materials. Renovation of existing housing stock typically uses 70% labour and 30% materials. What policy changes would you like to see made to encourage people to renovate, rather than demolish and build anew?
Financial support, in interest free loansHow should the community be informed and involved in decisions about new developments?
All rate payers, not just the surrounding residents should have a say.Do you think there is adequate tree canopy across your local government area?
No, and what we have, are very badly managed. How would you like to see significant and regulated trees in your area protected from removal?
Many trees were planted in very stupid locations. I’m a believer in trees in large boxes that can be relocated, when needed. What involvement should Councils have in decisions about protecting or removing significant and regulated trees?
Right now, it’s about greed and how much money. What actions would you advocate to slow or mitigate the impacts of climate change in your local government area?
Too late, the damage is done and we just need to ride it out. Leadership at the very top needs to give confidence to leaders below. What issues are there with traffic and parking in your area?
Stupid road design! Lower North East Road, the Glynde corner, city bound, what idiot lets there be a driveway entry into the hotel, and then put a bus stop there? This is a 60kmh blind corner. Very simple fix, why hasn’t it been done? How could transport options be improved in your area?
Common senseWhat would your top three priorities be for improving planning policy and outcomes in your local government area?
Youth and aged support and activities
Question developments, like Lochiel Park, and the village build.
Investigating costing ang project spending, to bring costs down
