Heritage survey responses.
Do you think that Councils and community members need to have a greater voice in planning and development decisions affecting their local area?
definatelyWhat role should Councils play in protecting local heritage places from demolition or inappropriate development?
they should play a huge part in maintaining. I believe unsafe walls should be removed or reinforced. where as run down buildings should be encouraged with a small subsidisy to renovating and restoring heritageHow would you seek to improve protections for heritage places in your area?
I would seek relevant aporovals to support run down buildings to be encouraged with a small subsidisy to renovating and restoring heritage buildings or building faceWe rarely see new places added to local heritage listings. Why do you think this is?
Heritage is definately a attractive feel, but often met with nerves that the person will have a constant battle with the councilHow has the Planning and Design Code impacted on the heritage, amenity, and environment of your area? What changes would you seek to the Code?
A constant fund of money yearly is put into the heritage wall of Emmanuel College and those stone walls on high street. Community question these yearly funds and safety of walls amongst the comnunityWhat are the impacts of infill development in your area? What changes would you seek in the rules around infill development?
I actually would like to get more information and voices of the communities opinions on multiple ideas.Construction of new housing typically uses 30% labour and 70% materials. Renovation of existing housing stock typically uses 70% labour and 30% materials. What policy changes would you like to see made to encourage people to renovate, rather than demolish and build anew?
* Subsidies *easier application and planning consents *common sence principals for replace new for oldHow should the community be informed and involved in decisions about new developments?
communication overall needs improving by the Gawler Council. People should have multiple types of contact so they at least get notified once or twice. mutiple options include * local paper avertisement * email *sms *letterbox or po boxDo you think there is adequate tree canopy across your local government area?
I believe we have the wrong type of tree canopy in our local area. How would you like to see significant and regulated trees in your area protected from removal?
Again common sence should prevail. Subdivision with significant trees? what are the Purchasers rights or vendors responsibility? Responsibility of council in regards to personal safety. Is a tree removal or prune a NEED or a WANT?What involvement should Councils have in decisions about protecting or removing significant and regulated trees?
A lot.. as it will stop the needs or wants of individuals and about making smart decisionsWhat actions would you advocate to slow or mitigate the impacts of climate change in your local government area?
I woukd be hapoy to look at ideas others before i made a decision to advocate. What issues are there with traffic and parking in your area?
Firstly Gawler East Primary school was on Finch Rd long before the houses were built. Yet no sufficient parking available. Council regulate fines in no parking areas? Yet are they expecting a 6yr old child to navigate traffic "looking" for a parent. Gawler Disricts road congestion in the afternoon pick up is extreamly dangerous and accidents occur daily. These are just 2 of my concerns but there are multiple issues within Gawler. I believe i have an amazing idea for the main street. How could transport options be improved in your area?
Mini buses be introduced more frequently than bigger buses running more costs/empty seatsWhat would your top three priorities be for improving planning policy and outcomes in your local government area?
communication
common sence
safety
