Do you think that Councils and community members need to have a greater voice in planning and development decisions affecting their local area?
Yes, absolutely 100% agree. Our communities voice is key to the best development outcomes for the area. What role should Councils play in protecting local heritage places from demolition or inappropriate development?
Council should play a key role in protecting local heritage buildings to be used for our community. We should advocate strongly to our State Government should any hertage buildings be considered for demolition. How would you seek to improve protections for heritage places in your area?
Stronge advocacy, community engagement , adding additional levels of protection to the development act and making the appropriate decisions in the chamber. We rarely see new places added to local heritage listings. Why do you think this is?
I think that the criteria used to determine a heritage building is why it is hard to add new buildings to the list. It would be good to add additional buildings for our buildings of significance. How has the Planning and Design Code impacted on the heritage, amenity, and environment of your area? What changes would you seek in the rules around infill development?
We need greater protections for our open space and need become more innovative when it come to housing needs. What policy changes would you like to see made to encourage people to renovate, rather than demolish and build anew?
Government incentives to provide a building as a way to boost economy and create local jobs. How should the community be informed and involved in decisions about new developments?
Legislation need to change to allow for notification to residents further then 60 metres from the development. This would include mail box drop, emails and community forums.Do you think there is adequate tree canopy across your local government area?
No, this needs to be improvedHow would you like to see significant and regulated trees in your area protected from removal?
Stronger legislation and stronger chambers making the decision to ensure protections for pur significant trees. What involvement should Councils have in decisions about protecting or removing significant and regulated trees?
Decision maker and changerWhat actions would you advocate to slow or mitigate the impacts of climate change in your local government area?
I think each council needs an education program to get residents onboard, we need to have targets, only use suppliers who create low impact, service share with neighbouring councils. What issues are there with traffic and parking in your area?
Small lots and residents with 2-3 cars. No access for emergency services. How could transport options be improved in your area?
