Kenneth Burt
2014 candidate for City of Mitcham.
Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Heritage is vital and should be on a balanced agenda of any CouncilWhat measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
As a first time candidate I need to become better informed which I plan to doWhat is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Again this would require research. I believe heritage is made up of people (their significant histories),buildings and sites that reflect historical events, personal achievement and building design. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
I will need to review current policies and programs against best practice and trends.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
YesDo you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
As a candidate I have been receiving significant request for my positions on issues. The decision making in council is a consultative process through a number of areas 1. Executive staff advising Councillors 2. Councillors working collaboratively together for policies that are win/win 4. Councillors like myself have training in areas other than heritage and this maybe our speciality. 5. A candidate cannot make promises until elected and is able to obtain a working knowledge. I will commit to the fact that heritage is important.
