What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Councils role is to provide leadership in protecting and conserving heritage. Creating policy that is realistic and enforceable but flexible enough to adapt to the ever changing expectation of community and society. What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Identify local heritage, provide protection through policy, communicate importance to community and encourage understanding. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Having a heritage listed suburb in our local government area and my ward there are many challenges. The biggest challenge being the education of current and new residents as to the policies that govern their greatest asset, their homes. Lack of education is the most important issue. What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
I support current policy on conserving heritage and would investigate better education for the community on the heritage importance of our area.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Development applications should not be driven by grand ideas about population growth and medium/high density housing. Development should be driven by community need with the future in mind not just today's short sighted vision. I support all development approvals being governed by local government as they know best!Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
My Council is pro-active in the protection of heritage and I look forward to continuing this effort.
