What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
With limited powers, mostly advisoryWhat measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Free access to an heritage architect up to a nominated value. What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Streetscapes and housing stockWhat policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
I'd like to see many more streets granted protection through an Historic Conservation Zone (HCZ) process whereby perhaps, say, up to 50% of a councils streets (or half streets where one end is already buggered)) can be given protection such that only those houses which are deemed to be completely out of character with the HCZ nature of the street can be demolished and can only be replaced with a design that complements the HCZ streetscape.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Yes, $3m is way, way to low and could encompass the building of a single house, albeit a rather grand one. My preference is for it to be mandatory for multi storey apartments and major developments to be reviewed by the Office of Design and Architecture SA (ODASA).Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
