What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Council must be see as a 'lead agency' in protecting and conserving heritage. They must develop innovative solutions ad policy to threats and issues that may impact on heritage buildings etc.What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
In no particular order: 1. Community consultation - community meetings, mail outs, regular updates. 2. Policy development, endorsement, implementation and review. 3. Stakeholder management by engagement and developing supportive networks. 4. Resource allocation in terms of people, relevant funding and promotion across website and social media. 5. Linkages to State policy to ensure compliance. 6. Advocation at all levels for strong policy at State level.What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
Anything that has the potential to negatively impact on the social fabric of the community, lot out of place in the area, increase traffic management issues and polite the environment.What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
A review of current policy should be programmed in(it may already be happening) to ensure there are no loophole for envelopment to take place without community consent.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Yes. But they must also have a robust consultation process and prudent decision making process in place, along with strong community enagement policy.Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
