What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Very Poor
What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
There needs to be a process set down for all of the State to follow regardless of the Council area. There has been in the past the temptation to treat Heritage far too lightly at the Local level. Having aid that there needs to be a mechanism that IF a property is to be held as heritage then the State must assist with the finances. NOT the local Council as they are not true government in the legal sense.
What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
These issues are generally dealt with by the Council and it seems there is little publicity about them.
What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
I believe Heritage matters should be handled by the National Trust and NOT by the local Council.
Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Yes.
Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
Unfortunately Victor harbor ha had most of the old heritage buildings removed years ago, Sadly. There are only remnants now. If it is so important then heritage must be taken over by the Nation Trust.
