What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Should be paramount. Local Council what have a better idea that State or Federal government in relation to protecting and preserving heritage. They should have a better local knowledge of the sites and how they have affected or influenced the area, and the degree of protection required.What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Depends on quite a lot of variables. Current condition and value in preserving. If it is a significant importance to the area every effort should be using in protecting and conserving. From roping off to building protection from the weather to stop further deterioration. Landowners who have local heritage sites should be encouraged to preserve them by a rate reduction why conservation work is being undertaken.What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?

Depending on the policies and programs.Do you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Yes - people who live in the area and will be affected by the development should have the right to have their views aired and local councils need to take these concerns on board when making decisions. Outsiders can'tDo you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
We have an active Historical Society which has always had strong links with the council and I the past have worked to together to preserve and maintain the ;local heritage areas within the City of Salisbury. Might get better response if less open questions. everyone is time poor especially if involved in an election.
