Heritage survey responses.
What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Listing local items and including in the development plan Working with owners of heritage to either fund protection works or help them find grants Provide heritage advice where possible Protect and maintain key listed items Preserve our heritage both built and non built for future generationsWhat measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
All the above Particularly council having heritage incentive grants for upgrades of buildings Preventing buildings being abused by owners Trying to find economic uses so they are protectedWhat is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
The cost of restoration is large so many just let them deteriorate further so they are beyond repair State gov funding cuts are to be condemnedWhat policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?
All the aboveDo you support local Councils retaining development approval powers for projects over $3m in value?
Absolutely The premise for removing local voices from decision making is a false one, namely it takes too long and councils are inefficient. I reject that out of hand. Councils can improve our processes but the answer is not to further remove the decisions from those most effected, the community.Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
It would be great if heritage attracted infrastructure grant funds like new roads etc
