What do you think Council's role is in protecting and conserving heritage?
Council plays a pivotal role in the conservation and preservation of heritage through its role as a planning authority and governance body. Council has an ongoing responsibility to identify items of heritage significance to continue developing and implementing planning policy to guide, protect and encourage conservation of these items. Council also has a role through grant schemes and as an owner of heritage property to actively participate in heritage conservation projects.What measures and incentives do you support to protect and conserve local heritage?
Develop and implement heritage policy. Commit to an ongoing review of heritage items and lists by regularly undertaking heritage assessment and reviews. Actively support conservation projects through grant schemes. Proactively conserve and protect council assets of heritage significance.What is the most important heritage protection issue in your local government area?
A review of heritage items in the Council area is overdue.What policies and programs will you advocate to protect and conserve heritage in your local area?

Yes - I see no need for further state interference in development assessment process above that already available under the current provisions of the Development Act 1993.Do you have any other thoughts about the protection of heritage in your Council area?
Heritage conservation and preservation is part of the core business of Council. This responsibility must be administered in an effective and efficient manner to ensure to ongoing preservation and protection of our heritage for future generations to enjoy and understand the context by which our community has developed and evolved.
